April 2026
A huge and humble thank you to Sharyna and Emily for smashing out our April reset clean! Their dedication to recycling as much as possible was next level.

Our homes are often reflections of our mental health. Reset Cleans Wellington offers free reset cleans for people who are overwhelmed by the mess in their homes — no judgement, ever.
What we do
A reset clean isn’t about judging how someone lives. It’s a team of volunteers turning up — quietly, kindly, and without an agenda — to help someone who has lost control of their space find their way back to it.
Sometimes that means scrubbing a kitchen. More often it means sitting with someone while they decide what to keep, sorting years of clutter into piles, doing mountains of washing, and driving carloads to the tip or the op shop. We take our time, we listen, and we leave people with room to breathe.
Shame is often the biggest thing stopping people from asking for help. We meet everyone exactly where they are.
Every reset clean is run entirely by volunteers, at no cost to the people we’re helping.
We sort with care — donating, recycling, and rehoming what we can rather than sending it all to landfill.
Our story
Reset Cleans began with our founder, Becky Kraakman, who discovered that cleaning could be deeply therapeutic — a way of taking chaos and turning it into calm. After her own experience of how much a home can weigh on your wellbeing, she started offering free reset cleans through the Kāpiti Kindness Trust, unsure whether anyone would even want the help.
They did. What began as a handful of cleans has grown into a small, dedicated team of volunteers who now support whānau across the Kāpiti Coast and Wellington — proof that a stranger turning up with gloves on can make an enormous difference.
“Taking chaos and transforming it into calm.”— Becky Kraakman, founder, as told to Stuff.co.nz
The process
Send us an email, or have a friend, whānau member or social agency reach out on your behalf. Everything is confidential.
We talk through what’s going on and what kind of help would make the biggest difference — no pressure, no judgement.
A group of volunteers gets stuck in together — cleaning, sorting, washing, and clearing what’s no longer needed.
You’re left with a space to breathe in. It’s not a fix for everything, but it’s a real, tangible reset.

Every clean is different — some are a single overflowing kitchen, others are whole homes. Whatever the size, our volunteers show up with the same care and no judgement.
